7 Motivating Gifts of Romans 12 Below is a listing of the seven motivating gifts found in Romans 12. GiftQuest is not seeking to make a statement regarding the present day availability of any of the other spiritual gifts mentioned in the Bible. We believe that these seven gifts are the most foundational gifts and the motivational gifts you possess shape how you think and how you form purposes, regardless of the Christian roles you also find yourself fulfilling. In seeking to develop a fundamental resource for ministry and vocation involvement based on motivational gifts, we felt it unnecessary to consider any other possible gifts in this gift assessment resource. Prophesy - Perception This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to perceive what is right vs. wrong, good vs. evil or true vs. false. It is an intuitive perceiving and prompting to proclaim, promote and pray about the will of God. The gift is manifested as an intense desire to correct what is seen as wrong. This may be considered the "eyes" of the Body of Christ. Ministry - Serving This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to render practical service to needs in the lives of individuals, families, churches and ministries. It is an ability to see and meet practical needs as quickly as possible, keeping the mechanics of ministry moving. It may be considered the "practical hands" of the Body.Teaching This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to evaluate and certify what is truth. It is a motivation to probe--seek answers to questions, clarifying the basis for everything. It is a searching out of facts until convinced that something is true or truth. This motive may be considered the "mind" of the Body of Christ, researching, studying and learning. It manifests as a focus on details, background, accuracy, clearly presenting and helping others understand truth. Exhortation This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to encourage, to motivate people to remain faithful and grow in maturity in their Christian walk. It is a verbal, relationship-oriented gift. It is an inner desire to promote acceptance and harmony in the Body of Christ. It is an inner desire to bring a lift to people. This gift may be considered the "mouth" of the Body of Christ. Giving This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to share oneself (to pour out a life), and/or to give a share of what is possessed to honor the Lord or advance His work. It is a motivation to invest oneself and resources in the support of others. This gift may be considered the "arms" of the Body of Christ.Ruling - Administration This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to envision and coordinate the activities of others for the achievement of common goals. It is an inner urging to preside, lead or stand before others. The motivation is an inner prompting to organize or coordinate personal responsibilities.Mercy This gift manifests as an inner prompting and ability to identify with the joys and distresses of others. There is a prompting to take action to remove hurts (especially emotional hurts) and bring healing to others. It may be considered the "heart" of the Body, relational--showing kindness, care, and mercy to others.
